Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/28/2023
The hockey world came to a shocked standstill when the Edmonton Oilers traded superstar Wayne Gretzky to the Los Angeles Kings before the start of the 1988-89 National Hockey League season. The Great One would continue to cement his legacy in the California sunshine and lead the Kings to an appearance in the 1993 Stanley Cup Finals. Celebrating his days as captain of the Los Angeles Kings is this CCM jersey that has been signed by the NHL’s all-time point leader. With the interior neckline signifying the jersey as a size 54, the front features the Kings silver and black logo of the late-1980s and early-1990s. The sleeves and verso of this ultrafil offering feature Gretzky’s famous “99” in stacked tackle twill. The reverse features “Gretzky” in dual layer twill sprawled across the affixed nameplate. The first number “9” has been signed by the hockey legend in bold black marker and it displays well with no present flaws. A beautiful piece, this is sure to become an attention grabber in your collection. A JSA Auction LOA will accompany.
