"And now ... here they are ... The Beatles!" With those words KRLA's Bob Eubanks introduced Californian fans to the Fab Four, whose 1964 and 1965 shows at the Hollywood Bowl were recorded for a live album project. Beatles producer George Martin dismissed the recordings as unlistenable, likening the crowd noise to a jet engine. The master tapes sat in EMI's vaults until the late-1970s, when the songs were remixed, cleaned-up and released as "The Beatles At The Hollywood Bowl" by Capitol Records. Offered is a rare 1977 Capitol Records of Canada Beatles Hollywood Bowl LP album promotional store display. At approx 28” x 48”, "Beatles" and the profile images of John, Paul, George and Ringo are depicted in raised relief at the top of this huge rigid plastic display. There are four slots at the bottom of the display in which to place albums that the store could swap out. The albums that will accompany to display include Beatlemania! With the Beatles, Magical Mystery Tour, Long Tall Sally and Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band (all playing copies showing wear/use). The display remains in very good condition, with some cracking to the plastic along the top border. Considering that only approx 200 were produced, and with the item creeping on the half century mark, finding a superior specimen would be quite the task.
