A Vezina Trophy winner and Stanley Cup champion - along with Gump Worsley - in just his second NHL season in 1967-68, Rogie Vachon was also victorious while playing for his nation at the 1976 Canada Cup. We have a team-signed stick used by the HOFer in 1979-80, during his second of two seasons in Motor City with the Wings. A Vic Pro 1000 model, “Vachon” is printed over the upper shaft, with the original white tape over the blade and knob intact. Exhibiting nice game use with puck marks across the front side of the blade and nicks to the backside from being bumped against Rogie’s skate tips, 17 Red Wings have signed over both sides of the shaft in dark ink, including Vachon, along with McCourt, Foligno, Larson, Huber, Woods, Korn, Long, Hogaboam, Sobchuk, Polonich, Hamel and others. The signatures display well and remain fairly dark, with a few faded and lighter. We should also note that the stick sports a few cracks at the heel, but remains solid.
