Successful early-on, capturing Lord Stanley’s elusive hardware after just their second NHL season in 1927-28, the New York Rangers blossomed under the tutelage and guidance of Lester Patrick for decades, with a number of legendary superstars representing the famous Blueshirts. Originating from the incomparable autograph collection of E. Robert Hamlyn, we have a great collection of letters from the Rangers and their fan club totaling 10 and ranging from 1948 to 1967, with signatures from HOF members Neil Colville and Lester Patrick, with each on attractive team letterhead. Each letter is typed and approx 8 ½” x 11”, with the Patrick letter dated “March 10, 1948”, with the icon adding an attractive and bold blue ink signature. The Colville letter is dated “Nov 15, 1950”, with Neil adding a nice blue ballpoint signature. Patrick would pass away in 1960, while Colville left us in 1987.
The majority of the letters show just light wear commensurate with their age, with toning the main concern, with this especially prominent along edges of the Patrick and Colville letters. Each letter also sports holes punched along the top section to facilitate binder insertion.
