Magnificent gold and diamond creation is the first of four Stanley Cup rings Murray Wilson won with the Montreal Canadiens of the 1970s. This gorgeous championship ring commemorates the Canadiens' 18th Cup win in the spring of 1973, when they beat the Chicago Black Hawks in the final for the second time in three years. The title capped a remarkable season that saw the Habs finish first overall in the East Division with 120 points. Wilson scored 18 goals in 52 games as a rookie during the regular season before he added two goals and four assists in 16 playoffs games as the Canadiens rolled over Buffalo, Philadelphia and Chicago to claim their sixth Cup in nine years. Team captain Henri Richard won his 11th Stanley Cup and Yvan Cournoyer scored 15 goals to win the Conn Smythe Trophy. From Murray Wilson's personal collection, this gorgeous championship ring features 17 diamonds surrounding a red stone, which has a large diamond set in the middle of the ring representing the team's 18th Stanley Cup. The outer edge of the face has "NHL CHAMPIONS" in raised letters encircling the diamonds. The ring's left shank features the Canadiens' familiar logo in red, white and blue with "Wilson" spelled out in capital letters across a banner above the logo, and "Champions, Est-East, 52-10-16" beneath it representing the team's regular season record. The ring's right shank features a raised image of the Stanley Cup set in the middle of the year "1973" with "Coupe Stanley Cup" and "Le Club de Hockey Canadien" below it, all in raised capital letters. The inside of this fabulous size 9 ring that weighs 27 grams is stamped "10K" and features Wilson's full name engraved in script letters. Showing light wear from use, there are a few scratches and minor dings visible. Originally from the collection of Murray Wilson, a Classic Auctions LOA will accompany.
