The first MLB team existing outside of the American borders, the Montreal Expos began life in 1969 with political leaders seeking a professional franchise for nearly a decade after the Montreal Royals folded in 1960. We have a great collection of game-worn Expos items totaling 8, spanning from roughly 1973 to 2002. Included are jerseys worn by Mike Lansing between 1993 and 1996 and Endy Chavez in 2002 (TBC with uniform pants), followed by uniform pants worn by Mike Jorgensen in 1973, Ross Grimsley in 1979/80 and Tim Wallach in 1985, with each pair recycled for subsequent use. There is also a batting helmet worn by Warren Cromartie in the 1980s, an Expos jacket from the 1990s and uniform stirrups. A COA will accompany the Wallach pants, with an LOA for the stirrups.
The breakdown for each of the offered items is as follows: 1) Mike Lansing’s 1993-96 Montreal Expos game-worn road jersey. Russell labeling sits on the lower front tail including handwritten “11”, with an alternate crest over the left sleeve. Featuring “Montreal” in attractive script across the chest in tackle twill, the grey button-up has also been accented with matching style front and verso numbers, with “Lansing” arching over the back in tri-colour tackle twill. With no unsightly wear or marks, the garment remains in beautiful condition. 2) Endy Chavez’ 2002 TBC Montreal Expos game-worn jersey & pants. Tagging from Mitchell & Ness resides along the collar, with a Cooperstown label along the lower left front tail with a date tag of “T.B.C. 5-26-02”. An Expos crest appears over the left breast, with “9” on right in tackle twill, with the number repeated in matching material on verso. The pants feature matching Mitchell & Ness tagging, with “19” handwritten along the waistband. The pants exhibit some heavy staining beneath the knees, while the jersey remains blemish free. 3) Warren Cromartie’s 1980s Montreal Expos batting helmet. An ABC model in Expos colours, a “49” decal appears across the reverse, with an Expos decal over the front. Heavy use is exhibited inside and out, with marks, scratches and abrasions present. 4) 1990s Montreal Expos jacket. Starter tagging is affixed along the collar, with a size “L” tag beneath. Styled with “Montreal” across the chest in tri-layer tackle twill, there is also an alternate crest over the left sleeve. With just light wear exhibited, the jacket remains in gorgeous condition. 5-7) 3 pairs of Montreal Expos game-worn uniform pants. Each pair has proper date/set tagging along the waistbands, with crossed out handwritten names confirming recycled use. Each pair shows considerable wear, with dirt staining along with team repairs present on each pair. 8) Montreal Expos game-worn stirrups. Solid blue with an old tag affixed from the Ohio Baseball Hall of Fame, they remain in very good condition.
