The follow-up to the 1996 World Cup of Hockey, the 2004 edition featured 8 teams in 2 pools, with the Canadians, Russians, Americans and Slovakia in the North American pool, while Finland, Sweden, Germany and the Czech Republic were featured in the European pool. Matches were played in 6 of the 8 competing nations, with Canada defeating Finland in the final 3-2. This Team Slovakia captain’s jersey was worn by Miroslav Satan in the Sept 5th game against Russia, and it’s been photo-matched. Size “56” tagging from Nike is present along the collar along with an IIHF label, with an additional IIHF crest along the back bottom hem. Featuring a partially embroidered Slovak shield team crest in tackle twill, the solid white garment has been embellished with triple-twill numbers, with the back letters heat-pressed directly onto the nameplate. A Slovak hockey federation crest has been placed above the left chest next to the 2004 World Cup of Hockey patch, with a Nike swoosh embroidered over the right. There is also a Nike inventory bar code numbered 44893 that resides inverted on the inside hem. Game-wear consists of a few dark marks on the lower front along with some light spot staining, along with additional examples over the right sleeve. There are also a few board burns with small resulting holes over the left elbow section. Regarding the previously mentioned photo-match, Getty image #72480607 from aforementioned September 5th game has been matched to the loose threads on the top area of the Nike logo along the back neckline, and to the loose threads on the top right and lower right of the "T" in "Satan" on verso. An LOA from the NHLPA will accompany.
