This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 4/30/2024
Recently having been inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame as part of the 2023 Induction Class for recognition of his play in the National Hockey League, Mike Vernon would suit up in a total of 781 games over the course of his fruitful career, backstopping both the Calgary Flames (1989) and Detroit Red Wings (1997) to Stanley Cup glory. Awarded the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoffs MVP in 1997 and a five (5) time NHL All-Star who also enjoyed stints with San Jose and Florida, offered here is this stick used by Vernon during the 1996-97 season in which he helped Detroit to their first Stanley Cup championship since 1955 and took home the Conn Smythe Trophy as Playoffs MVP. A Hespeler made HMP model twig with "Vernon" stamped to the upper shaft, the stick retains its original tape job of black finished with white over the knob and red wrapped around the handle plus over the blade and shows excellent game-use throughout via battle scars including puck marks and tears over both sides of the blade tape and a chip in the top edge of the paddle just up from the heel. Also sporting some soiling of the handle/knob tape and puck marks over both sides of the upper shaft, small spots of red post paint transfers are also observed on the reverse side of the upper shaft as well.
