Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2024
Enjoying a full four year collegiate career with the Michigan State University Spartans, Mike Donnelly would sign as a free agent with the New York Rangers before the 1986-87 season and would go on to play a total of 465 games in the National Hockey League with the likes of New York (Rangers), Buffalo, Los Angeles, Dallas and New York (Islanders) between 1986 and 1996. Offered here, we present this Los Angeles Kings jersey worn by Donnelly during the 1991-92 campaign when he posted 45 points in 80 games played. Made by CCM, both Maska Ultrafil and size "52" labels are affixed to the inner collar while the emblems of both the NHL and CCM have been embroidered into the reverse hem. Styled over the front of the jersey with a Kings "Chevy" logo team crest that features embroidered details throughout, the NHL's 75th anniversary patch that was worn throughout the season has been added over the right breast while the Kings' 25th anniversary crest that was also worn by the club throughout the course of the season has been placed atop of the left shoulder. Styled over the sleeves and verso with Donnelly's number "11" in stacked tri-layer tackle twill numerals, "Donnelly" is spelt out matching style letters that have been affixed directly to the material at the top of the reverse. Displaying with good game-wear including heavy pilling throughout the interior of the piece, unrepaired cuts and holes are found over the lower front and both sleeves while stick marks are found in the same areas as well. Also sporting additional wear via board burns and board paint transfers over both sleeves, a team repair is found in the white stripe of the right sleeve and staining exists at the base of the collar and over the left sleeve also.
