Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/1/2022
Leading the New York Rangers to a first-place finish in the NHL in 1993-94, Mark Messier famously guaranteed a Blueshirts victory while trailing New Jersey in the Eastern Conference finals, and after making good on his daring boast, won the first Stanley Cup championship seen in Manhattan in over half a century. We have a huge Stanley Cup replica trophy signed by superstar Mark Messier. At roughly 25”, the silver-colored plastic replica is a faithful reproduction of the original, with three mounted photos of Messier including one posing with the Cup. Messier has signed between the images in bright blue marker, adding “94 Cup” and “We Did it”. The signature displays well, with a bit of spotting visible beneath. We should note that this blue ink is BRIGHT, as opposed to the darker shade of blue usually found with sharpies. A "Keeper of the Cup" certificate and black velvet-like storage bag is included, as well as a black nylon NHL tablecloth for display (28" x 29"), white gloves for proper handling and a plastic case for storage and display (12" x 12" x 25 1/2"). A COA from Steiner will accompany.
