Edmonton Oilers Auction 2005
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/16/2005
Hall of Fame netminder Jacques Plante closed out his brilliant career with the Oilers of the WHA, playing 40 games with Edmonton in 1974-75. This heavy knit uniform was recycled for Plante's use during preseason game action and he is also pictured wearing the jersey in posed public relations player shots, at least on one program cover and the official team photo taken at the beginning of the year. The Oilers took to the ice during the preseason wearing these heavier uniforms from 1972-73 and 1973-74 as the new Rawlings jerseys were not worn until the opening game of the regular season. Jacque's white uniform is made by Western Athletic (no tagging) and displays the number "30" on the sleeves and again on the back below the chain-stitched "Plante" nameplate. The jersey shows nice wear (one repair) and washing, much of it added the previous season by Oilers goalie Chris Worthy. An exciting and scarce sweater worn by this goaltending great. Comes with LOA.
