The Frank Mahovlich Auction - October 2005
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/18/2005
Chicago Black Hawk superstar Bobby Hull had a memorable season in 1959-60, breaking the 30-goal barrier (he finished the year with 39), while setting another record with 81 points, which earned him his first NHL scoring title and the Art Ross Trophy. Bobby Hull finished the season with 81 points, seven more than Beliveau and eight more than Gordie Howe. This miniature Art Ross replica was produced in recent years to commemorate Hull's '59-60 scoring title. Made by "Boffey", the company which produces trophies for the NHL, this beauty stands just over 11" high while the wooden base is approximately 8 1/2" square. The silver-plated bowl is a replica of the one that sits atop the actual Art Ross trophy. A metal plaque applied to the front of the wooden base has been engraved "Bobby Hull – Chicago Blackhawks – 1959-60." In pristine condition, the exceptional piece will be accompanied by a letter of authenticity signed by Bobby Hull.
