Fascinating New York Americans jersey is from circa 1935 and was worn by a certain player by the name of Sarka. An outstanding amateur player, it is believed he had a tryout with the Americans for there are no records of a Sarka playing a game in the NHL. Obtained from his grandson, the jersey lacks a number on the back but displays obvious wear. Because of the use, the possibility that it was worn during a training camp or pre-season is likely. There's also a good chance that other players (who knows, maybe Nels Stewart!) wore it. The breathtaking red, white and blue (stars and striped style) wool sweater includes approximately two dozen repairs, along with repaired holes at the armpits. There are a dozen tiny holes that were not repaired. Thirteen small white felt stars are sewn on both the front and back while "New York", also in white felt, is sewn across the front. "Americans" is sewn across the front in beautiful red-felt-sewn-on-blue-felt letters. There's a small one-inch fray to the white collar. The cuffs and hem are in tremendous unfrayed condition. An Alex Taylor & Co. tag is sewn in the tail. One of the most popular and attractive jerseys ever produced by an NHL team, this is the first one that we've had the honor of offering the hobby. Truly magnificent!
