Playing a lone season in the Ontario Hockey Association with the Windsor Spitfires in 1978-79 before embarking on a four (4) year NCAA college hockey career as a member of the Spartans of Michigan State University, Mark Hamway would help the school of NCAA Tournament appearances in both 1982 and 1983. Drafted 143rd overall by the New York Islanders at the 1980 NHL Entry Draft and going on to play a total of fifty-three (53) games in the league with the club between 1984-85 and 1986-87, offered here is this collection of two (2) jerseys worn by Hamway as a member of the AHL's Springfield Indians, New York's primary affiliate at the time.
For the first jersey, also the earliest of the two included, a white offering donned by Mark during the 1984-85 season, the CCM made Ultrafil construction offering is void of any tagging that was once affixed to the inner collar but measures out to roughly a size "52" for its effort. Missing the CCM logo patch that was once sewn on over the reverse hem (the outline of its former placement is still visible), the front of the jersey is decorated with an Indians team crest that features beautifully done embroidered details, which has been sewn on overtop of a dual layer blue-over-orange tackle twill "S". Accented over the sleeves and verso with Hamway's number "21" in dual layer blue-over-orange tackle twill numerals, "Hamway" is spelt out in matching style letters across the affixed matching nameplate that is in place over the top of the reverse. Retaining its original ribbon style fight strap on the interior, the jersey is thrashed with heavy wear throughout its entirety including stick marks, board burns, coloured board paint transfers, unrepaired holes, excellent pilling on the interior, sweat staining around the collar/other general filth from age/use and numeorus sewn team repairs, including many clusters.
For the second jersey, a CCM made offering dating from the 1986-87 season that also measures out to roughly a size "52" for its effort, a partially detached Maska Ultrafil label is still affixed to the inner collar above an also partially detached born-on date label reading "86 04". Having had the CCM logo embroidered into the reverse hem, the front of the jersey is decorated with the same team crest that features embroidered details and layered tackle twill crest as the jersey mentioned above (the "S" is tri-layered on this one) while the sleeves and verso have been styled with Hamway's number "21" in dual layer orange-over-white tackle twill numerals. Having had "Hamway" spelt out in matching style letters across the affixed matching nameplate at the top of the reverse and retaining a snap style fight strap on the interior, once again heavy game-wear is observed throughout the jersey including stick marks, board burns, coloured board paint transfers, small pills/fabric snags on the exterior and of course, numerous sewn team repairs plus good pilling on the interior.
