Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/24/2024
Winning in straight games against Winnipeg (first round) and Minnesota (third round), the Edmonton Oilers faced the New York Islanders in the 1984 Stanley Cup final, with this matchup a repeat of the past season. While the young Oilers were humbled by the Long Islanders in four straight games in 1983, the team was on the ascension in 1984, losing only a single game to New York en route to the franchises first Stanley Cup championship. Wayne Gretzky would lead the playoffs in scoring, with Mark messier earning MVP honours. From the cup-clinching Game 5, we offer a ticket stub graded "Authentic Altered" by PSA. Listing "1984" and "Home Playoff Game 11", the stub also has "Oilers win the Cup!" handwritten on the reverse. Sporting a few creases, this stub is an essential for any Gretzky, Oilers or Stanley Cup collection.
