Originally drafted 6th overall by the Buffalo Sabres at the 1982 NHL Entry Draft out of South St. Paul Secondary School in South St. Paul, Minnesota, Phil Housley would go on to play a total of 1495 games in his National Hockey League career with eight (8) different franchises. The second leading scorer amongst American-born players with 1,232 points, bested only by Mike Modano, Housley was inducted into the United States Hockey Hall of Fame in 2004, and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2015. Named to seven (7) NHL All-Star Games, offered here is this jersey worn by Housley at the 1989 mid-season contest in Edmonton. Made by CCM and featuring a Maska Air-Knit label affixed to the inner collar that displays a handwritten size "50" designation in blue ballpoint pen ink, an orange, black and white coloured CCM logo has been embroidered into the reverse hem. Decorated over the front of the jersey was a large NHL shield team crest in layered tackle twill, white coloured tackle twill stars have been added over the waist area on both the front and reverse. Having had Housley's number "6" sewn to the sleeves and verso in dual layer tackle twill numerals, "Housley" is spelt out in single layer white twill letters across the affixed matching nameplate at the top of the reverse. Sporting an alternate conference logo patch over the left shoulder and the all-important 1989 NHL All-Star Game event logo crest over the right shoulder, the fight strap found on the interior of the jersey remains intact and functional. Remaining in overall excellent condition, light game-wear is observed via pilling at the end of both cuffs from rubbing against Housley's gloves as well as on the interior while light sweat staining is present around the collar and a few fabric snags are seen throughout.
