Playing a pair of seasons with the University of Minnesota in the NCAA, winning a national championship under legendary head coach Herb Brooks in 1976, Anderson would be drafted by both the NHL's Pittsburgh Penguins (31st overall) and WHA's Winnipeg Jets (22nd overall) in the summer of 1975 at each leagues respective draft. Choosing to go the route of the National Hockey League, Anderson would go on to play a total of 519 games in the league with the likes of Pittsburgh, Hartford and Los Angeles. Offered here, we present this Penguins jersey worn by Anderson throughout the entirety of the 1978-79 NHL regular season and Stanley Cup playoffs. A heavyweight mesh construction garment made by Stall and Dean that also features a knit hemline, brand labeling is affixed to the inner collar along with fly tags reading "52" (size) and "8" (year). Decorated over the front of the jersey with a Penguins team crest that has been administered in layered tackle twill style, the sleeves and verso of the jersey have been styled with Anderson's number "7" in dual layer tackle twill numerals while "Anderson" has been spelt out in single layer navy twill letters across the affixed matching nameplate at the top of the reverse. Retaining its original garter style fight strap on the interior of the piece and showing heavy fading to the bottom layers of the numbers over the sleeves and verso, the jersey shows game-wear throughout via numerous team repairs in the front crest, board burns over both sleeves, pilling at the end of both cuffs and hem, stick marks over the right sleeve and finally, additional board burns over the front and reverse hem. Also showing pilling on the interior, an LOA from Penguins Chronicles will accompany the piece.
