Finishing the 1988 season with a record of 88-74, missing out on the American League East Division title by a single game to the Boston Red Sox, the Detroit Tigers hit five (5) grand slams over the course of the year, the most in the league that season and were lead offensively by Alan Trammell, who hit .311 in 128 games played while Jack Morris hurled 235 innings and posted an era of 3.94. Offered here, we present this baseball bat used by Tigers outfielder Chet Lemon during the year that has been signed by numerous members of that 1988 Tigers squad. A Worth Tennessee Thumper model 500T that measures roughly 34" in length, "34" has been penned over both ends in black marker while "11" appears over the knob also in matching ink. Having had various things stamped into the knob and "Hand Crafted - Chet Lemon - Model" branded into the barrel, light pine tar is found over the handle while game-use is present via various ball, cleat and bat rack marks throughout. Having been team-signed by numerous members of the 1988 Tigers, all have signed around the barrel in black marker ink with the signatures all appearing excellent for the most part other than a couple with some light fading/smudging. Signed by notables such as Lemon as well as Jack Morris, Sparky Anderson, Ray Knight, Alan Trammell and many others, a JSA Auction LOA will accompany the piece.
