Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/24/2024
A product of the Ontario Hockey League's Plymouth Whalers who would go on to be drafted 123rd overall by the Colorado Avalanche at the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, Garrett Meurs would play a total of ninety-one (91) games in the American Hockey League over the course of five (5) years during his professional career, with time spent in the East Coast Hockey League as well. Offered here, we present this OHL Plymouth Whalers breast cancer awareness "Pink in the Rink" jersey worn by Meurs on October 24th, 2009 against the Belleville Bulls. Made by Reebok, both brand and size "54" labels are affixed to the inner collar while Reebok logo patches reside over the left breast and reverse neckline. Displaying a CHL league patch over the reverse hem and a OHL league emblem over the right breast, the front of the pink coloured garment is decorated with a Whalers team crest that displays embroidered details throughout while the sleeves and verso have been styled with Merus' number "16" in dual layer tackle twill numerals. Having had "Meurs" spelt out in single layer navy tackle twill letters across the affixed matching nameplate at the top of the reverse, the jersey, worn for just a single game, shows only light use via a couple of small board burns, one over each sleeve. Additionally, the original fight strap remains on the interior and the Whalers 20th anniversary logo that was utilized during the season has been sublimated into the material over both shoulders.
