Serving as the first Quebec-born captain of the Montreal Canadiens for eight seasons, Emile Bouchard was known for his clean yet physical play, with four Stanley Cup championships won throughout his 15 NHL seasons. Developing with the Verdun Maple Leafs and Montreal Jr. Canadiens before joining the National Hockey League ranks, Bouchard would go on to be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1966, offered here is this lot consisting of a lithograph by Michel Lapensee and a Habs jersey signed by the legendary captain.
Starting with the lithograph, an elegant piece by Michel Lapensee that is appropriately titled "Butch Bouchard #3", features a large image of Bouchard in the foreground with other moments in time surrounding the larger image pertaining to things such as Stanley Cup championships and his Hall of Fame induction, the piece is serial numbered "7/100" in pencil at the bottom left hand corner and is signed by Lapensee opposite it, also in pencil. Housed in mauve coloured simple frame that remains in excellent condition, the piece measures out to approx. 22 1/2" x 26 1/2" while full framed dimensions ring in at approx. 26 1/2" x 31 1/2".
Also including a Canadiens jersey that has been signed by Bouchard, the Reebok Premier model offering with brand and size "M" labeling affixed over the inner collar and lower front left side is decorated with the famed "CH" crest of Les Canadiens over the front. Still sporting the original retail tags affixed to the left cuff the sleeves and verso have been accented with Bouchard's number "3" in dual layer white-over-blue tackle twill numerals while "Bouchard" is spelt out in single layer white twill letters across the affixed red knit nameplate at the top of the reverse. Signed by Bouchard through the bottom of the "3" on the reverse with a black marker ink signature that displays well and with just a small amount of fading, the rest of the jersey is in excellent condition overall except for a small mark over the back of the collar.
