Featuring a 51-card checklist that includes players from the Toronto Maple Leafs, Detroit Red Wings and Montreal Canadiens, the 1961-62 Parkhurst set is often regarded by collectors as the release that signaled the beginning of the end for the company’s hockey releases. Found here in the form of a near-complete assembly with forty-eight (48) of the fifty-one (51) cards found within the checklist present and accounted for, offered is this contingent of cards from the 1961-62 Parkhurst release. Missing just those of 6-Stewart, 28-Litzenberger and 37-Langlois for completion, the group is paced by twelve (12) notable cards that present in the range of POOR to VG and includes the set's key rookie card of Dave Keon (crease to the left of his head, slightly off-center from right-to-left and slight corner/edge wear) while other notables include the examples of 1-Horton (creased plus edge and corner wear), 2-Mahovlich (stained reverse, slightly off-center from right-to-left, corner and edge wear including a crease at the bottom right and ding to top left), 20-Howe (creased plus corner/edge wear), 31-Sawchuk (creases plus slight edge and corner wear), 43-H. Richard (creases, off-center bottom-to-top and stained reverse plus slight edge and corner wear), 49-Plante (minor creases and stained reverse plus slight edge/corner wear), 3-Bower (off-center and crease that appears on the reverse plus slight corner and edge wear), 45-Beliveau (heavy creased and stained reverse), 35-Geoffrion (off-center from right-to-left, stained reverse and light creases plus slight corner and edge wear), 26-Ullman (crease, small stain at top left corner and slight corner plus edge wear including dings seen on the reverse) and 7-Shack (surface scratches, stained reverse and off-center from right-to-left). For the balance of the set, the cards are found to be in an overall low-grade state, mostly consisting of examples in the range of POOR to VG with the majority of the cards having creases and wear to their corners/edges worthy of mention for accuracy among other things.
