This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/25/2024
Held between December 26, 2003, and January 5, 2004, in Helsinki and Hämeenlinna, Finland, the 2004 edition of the IIHF WOrld Junior Hockey championships saw the United States win their first ever World Junior gold medal, defeating Team Canada in the gold medal game by a score of 4-3 by scoring three (3) unanswered goals in the third (3rd) period. Offered here, we present this collection of Team Canada 2004 IIHF World Junior Championships and circa 2002 U18 Ivan Hlinka Cup team-signed memorabilia including a poster board plaque from the 2004 squad and a Hockey Canada pennant from the 2002 U18 squad plus an event program from the 2004 World Junior tournament. Starting with the poster board plaque, measuring approximately 27 1/4" x 38 1/2", the front displays imagery and details pertaining to the tournament including the mascot, host cities, dates, sponsors and various logos. Displaying with some wear to the corners and edges, a label has been affixed to the reverse and there is some residue found on the backside at the bottom two (2) corners. Having been signed over the front by twenty-two (22) members of Team Canada with black marker signatures that display well overall with just a couple that show some fading, those that have signed include notables such as Crosby, Fleury, Phaneuf, Burns and many others. Also including a Hockey Canada pennant that measures roughly 29 1/2" and shows folds in numerous areas, the piece has been signed by approximately twenty-one (21) members of that U18 team in black marker with many of the signatures hard to make out though the likes of Brent Seabrook, Paul Bissonnette, Kevin Nastiuk, Anthony Stewart, Nigel Dawes and Jamie Tardif can be identified. Finally, the last item included is a copy of the event program from the 2004 IIHF World Juniors that shows in excellent condition with just light handling wear being observed. All hailing from the personal collection of former Team Canada team physician, Dr. Michel Parayre, his signed LOA will accompany the lot.
