Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/25/2024
A product of the Niagara Ice Dogs and Barrie Colts in the Ontario Hockey League, Alex Pietrangelo would hear his name called 4th overall at the 2009 NHL Entry Draft by the St. Louis Blues. Having gone on to a National Hockey League career that has seen him play in over 1000 games thus far with St. Louis and Vegas, winning Stanley Cups in 2019 and 2023, "Petro" has also represented his native country of Canada on numerous occasions, winning World Junior Championship, Olympic and World Cup of Hockey gold medals. Offered here, we present this St. Louis Blues jersey issued to Pietrangelo for St. Louis' NHL Premier 2009 contest in Stockholm, Sweden against the Detroit Red Wings on October 2nd, 2009. Made by Reebok and sporting a lone size "58" label affixed to the inner collar, logo patches for both the NHL and Reebok have been added over the front and reverse necklines respectively. Decorated over the front of the jersey with a Blues team crest that features embroidered details, the all-important NHL Premiere Stockholm event patch has been added over the right breast. Styled over the sleeves and verso with Pietrangelo's number "27" in stacked tri-layer tackle twill numerals, "Pietrangelo" is spelt out in single layer blue twill letters across the affixed matching nameplate at the top of the reverse. Sporting its original fight strap on the interior as well as a team stamp inside the reverse hem reading "Sweden 2009", the jersey, issued but never worn, shows wear via staining throughout the piece and is accompanied by a Blues COA listing the particulars of the piece. Of note, it appears that the NHL Premier 2009 patch over the right breast was relocated to a higher position at some point and there is blue colour bleed in the nameplate at the top of the reverse.
