Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/24/2024
Advancing to the Stanley Cup final in each of the franchise’s first three (3) seasons of existence, the St Louis Blues joined the NHL in the expansion of 1967 that concluded the Original Six era and have won ten (10) Division championships thus far, along with a lone Stanley Cup, in 2019. Offered here, we present this St. Louis Blues prototype jersey that dates from the era of the mid-to-late-1970s. A durene knit offering made by Rawlings, the brand's label is affixed to the inner collar and displays a size "50" at the bottom right hand corner. The manufacturer of St. Louis' game jerseys in the era, the front of the blue, yellow and white garment is decorated over the front with a familiar Blues team crest in layered tackle twill while the sleeves and verso are void of any names or numbers. Sporting a loop style fight strap on the interior, the striping pattern seen over the hem and both sleeves are a match to what the Blues used from 1973 to 1984 but the solid yellow coloured shoulders were never used by the Blues in this void of other accent stripes manner, a style that was introduced and used between 1979 and 1984. Remaining in overall excellent condition and free of any major flaws, a blue mark exists in the bottom yellow stripe of the right sleeve and there are a couple of fabric snags and small spot stains throughout that are worth noting for accuracy.
