Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/24/2024
One of the most difficult positions in all of sports with those that dare play it regarded as both fearless and a bit kooky, up for grabs here is this lot consisting of two (2) multi-signed HHOFers and legends framed lithographs that feature the images and signatures of protectors of the piped pavilions. Starting with a photograph titled "The Class of 1967 - Expansion Goalies", all six (6) starting goalies for the half dozen for the then newly minted National Hockey League teams are pictured, including those of Les Binkley (Pittsburgh Penguins), Charlie Hodge (Oakland Seals), Wayne Rutledge (Los Angeles Kings), Cesare Maniago (Minnesota North Stars), Bernie Parent (Philadelphia Flyers) and Glenn Hall (St. Louis Blues), the limited edition 16" x 20" photograph has been signed by all the men featured with blue marker ink signatures that display without issue. Serial numbered "64/167" in matching blue marker ink at the bottom right hand corner, an AJ Sports World hologram has been affixed alongside it over the bottom left hand corner as well. Housed in a simple and thin bordered blue frame that measures out to full dimensions of roughly 21 1/2" x 17 1/2", light wear to the edges and corners is worth noting for accuracy.
For the second piece in the lot, a lithograph titled "Legends of the Crease", the Walter Burden done piece that is serial numbered "1024/1966" in pencil at the bottom left hand corner, the piece displays the starting goaltenders for four (4) of the Original Six clubs throughout the 1950s and/or 1960s including Johnny Bower, Gump Worsley, Glenn Hall and Gerry Cheevers. Measuring approx. 14” x 17” (exposed), the piece has been signed at the bottom by all four (4) in pencil at the bottom of the piece with all the signatures displaying without issue. Triple matted and framed to full dimensions of roughly 22 1/2" x 27", the frame is in overall excellent condition with the original cardboard corner protectors still over each point.
While all of our frames are thoroughly and safely packaged for shipping, due to the size and/or weight, and dependent upon the shipping company, we should mention that damage may occur in transit. Please note that as such, we are not responsible for damage to frames that occur during shipping.
