Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2024

Founded as the Cougars in 1926 and retaining that moniker until 1930, the Detroit NHL franchise would also be known as the Falcons before settling on the famous Red Wings nickname. We offer a pair of scarce Cougars programs from the 1927-28 (vs Montreal) and 1928-29 (vs Americans) NHL seasons. The 1927-28 program is complete including line-up which is scored, with the date of the match listed as Jan 5, 1928. The Habs took the victory 2-1, with Howie Morenz and Aurele Joliat scoring the Canadiens goals. The covers are both detached but show little wear, with the interior showing just a somewhat dark stain on the line-up page. The 1928-29 program is 36-pages, and complete, with the covers detached and a corner missing on both the front and back covers. There is a full page image of the Stanley Cup. The line-up page has not been scored, and according to the schedule, the game was either Dec 2, 1928 or Jan 27, 1929. There is some water damage to the program throughout including the covers.
