Drafted 30th overall by the Los Angeles Kings at the 1979 NHL Entry Draft after playing his junior hockey as a member of the Montreal Juniors in the QMJHL, Mark Hardy would go on to play a total of 915 games in the National Hockey League with the Kings as well as the New York Rangers and Minnesota North Stars. Enjoying two (2) stints with the Kings as well as an appearance in the 1993 Stanley Cup Finals, offered here is this Los Angeles Jersey worn by Hardy during the 1987-88 season before his trade to the New York Rangers that was then worn by Denis Larocque at the end of the year. A second set offering made by CCM (the Kings wore Ultrafil to start the year but switched to Airknit for the second set), a Maska label is affixed to the inner collar with the sweater itself measuring out to roughly a modern size "50". Displaying an embroidered CCM logo over the reverse hem, the front of the garment has been decorated with a Kings team crest that has been administered in layered twill with heavily embroidered details, the sleeves and verso have been accented with Hardy's number "5" in dual layer tackle twill numerals while "Hardy" is spelt out in single layer purple twill letters across the affixed matching nameplate at the top of the reverse. Retaining its original fight strap on the interior and showing pilling inside the reverse hem, it is important to note that the jersey shows evidence of a former nameplate that was sewn on over the Hardy one, surely for Larocque, that was then removed at a later date. With no clear evidence that the Hardy nameplate was ever removed and then reattached, implying that the Larocque one was simply sewn on overtop of the Hardy plate, the removal of the Larocque nameplate caused some damage to the stitching of the Hardy plate which was then reinforced with black thread at the top edge. Showing game-wear via some light marks/stains over the lower front and reverse as well as a small unrepaired hole over the lower front as well, additional wear is present via stick marks, board burns and red board paint transfers over both sleeves while a mix of fabric patched and sewn up team repairs are strewn throughout both sleeves as well, totaling ten (10) by our count.
