A product of the Ferris State University Bulldogs in the NCAA who originally went undrafted before signing as a free agent with the Anaheim Mighty Ducks, Chris Kunitz would go on to a career that would see him play in over 1000 games with the likes of Anaheim, Atlanta, Pittsburgh, Tampa Bay and Chicago over the course of fifteen (15) years in the National Hockey League. A four (4) time Stanley Cup champion and a gold medalist at the 2014 Winter Olympic Games with Team Canada, offered here is this Team Canada jersey worn by Kunitz at the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi Russia during Canada's February 13th contest against Norway. Made by Nike, "Made in Canada", size "60" and Nike Swoosh logos/notations are screened on over the inner collar above an affixed "IIHF Authentic Collection" label while an additional Nike Swoosh logo is present over the right breast. Sporting a 2014 Sochi Winter Olympic Games patch over the reverse hem, the front of the jersey sports a Team Canada crest that has been heat pressed on above "Canada" in individually applied white heat pressed letters. Additionally, red vinyl maple leaf silhouettes appear around the collar while gold maple leafs are found inside the collar. Featuring a Canadian flag patch over the left sleeve and a Canadian Olympic Committee crest over the right sleeve, Kunitz's number "14" appears over the sleeves and verso in dual layer white-over-black tackle twill numerals, "Kunitz" is spelt out in single layer white twill letters that have been heat pressed on across the affixed matching nameplate at the top of the reverse. Still sporting its original fight strap and a Team Nike barcode on the interior that is numbered "85345", the jersey, worn for just a single game, shows just light wear via some small board burns over the front and both sleeves, a stick mark over the right sleeve and some marks at both cuffs. Originally sold by us in both 2016 and 2021 and once accompanied by an NHLPA LOA, a Classic Auctions LOA will accompany.
Of note, a couple of small spot stains are found throughout as well.
