A product of the Ontario Hockey Association's Ottawa 67's, Murray Wilson, drafted 11th overall by the Montreal Canadiens at the 1971 NHL Amatuer Draft, would win a Calder Cup in his first season of professional hockey as a member of the Nova Scotia Voyageurs and help the Canadiens to a quartet of Stanley Cup championships in 1973, 1976, 1977 and 1978. A veteran of 386 games overall and forced into retirement early due to injury, offered here is this Montreal Canadiens jersey worn by Wilson during both the 1977 Stanley Cup Playoffs as well as the 1977-78 National Hockey League regular season. Made by Wilson, a brand label displaying a size "44" designation is affixed to the inner collar of the heavyweight durene knit offering while a chain-stitched "77" year swatch has been added inside the right hip. First worn during the 1976-77 Stanley Cup Playoffs, including the Finals against the Boston Bruins in which nameplates were added over the upper reverse (evidence of its former placement is still observed via a stitching outline), the front of the jersey is decorated with Montreal's famed "CH" crest in layered tackle twill while the sleeves and verso have been styled with Wilson's number "17" in dual layer blue-over-red tackle twill numerals. Featuring a garter style fight strap on the interior, the jersey shows game-wear in the form of coloured board paint transfers over the lower front, both sleeves, lower reverse and front, additional wear is observed via team repairs and board burns over both sleeves and pilling on the interior.
