Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2024

Finishing in 3rd place behind Duluth and Kansas City, the Minneapolis Millers advanced to the AHL finals in 1927-28, and defeated Duluth in a five-game total-goal series to be crowned AHL champions. The team featured a strong roster, including future HOFers Tiny Thompson and Cooney Weiland. This original patch celebrates the Millers. 7 1/4" in circumference and made of navy blue and gold chenille, the team's trademark "M" is encompassed with "AHL Champions" and "1927-28". Accompanying the patch, there is a second period crest shield-shaped at approx 6 1/2" x 6 1/2" with a winged skate and "Arena Ice Rink". The patch is affixed (removable) to a backing with a 1937-38 St Louis Flyers sticker on the reverse, and we are unsure if these two items are connected. Both patches survive in beautiful condition with no issues.
