Hailing from years considered to be the eighth (8th) and ninth (9th) seasons of play in modern-day Canadian football although officially the fourth (4th) and fifth (5th) seasons of the Canadian Football League, the 1961 and 1962 campaigns both saw the Winnipeg Blue Bombers hoisting the Grey Cup at seasons end, claiming the victory over the East champion Hamilton Tiger-Cats. Offered here, we present this complete Topps CFL football releases from both the 1961 and 1962 seasons. Starting with the earlier assembly from 1961, the checklist features a total of 132-cards and those making up the offered assembly are found to be in the overall uniform condition range of EX-MT to NM throughout its entirety. For the key cards, included are those of 1-Bailey (EX-MT to NM), 4-Fleming RC (EX-MT - light ding at bottom left), 20-Kapp (EX-MT - slight corner and border wear), 33-Coffey (EX to EX-MT - dirty bottom border), 39-Parker (EX-MT - tiny ding at the bottom left), 47-Faloney (EX-MT - tiny ding bottom left), 56-Patterson (EX-MT to NM), 62-Dixon RC (EX-MT to NM - 80-20 centering and off-centered), 76-Jackson (VG-EX to EX - light corner wear and a bottom right border bubble), 79-Lancaster RC (EX to EX-MT - small stain on the reverse), 85-Stewart RC (EX-MT to NM) and 102-Checklist (EX-MT to NM - unmarked - slightly off-center). For the 1962 Topps CFL release, included and featuring a checklist of 169-cards in all, the cards, originally sold in perforated pairs that were able to be separated into individual cards, the key cards include those of 9-Fieldgate (EX-MT to NM), 13-Kapp (EX to EX-MT - perforation showing), 38-Bright (EX-MT to NM), 52-Parker (EX to EX-MT - perforation showing), 63-Faloney (EX-MT to NM), 67-Henley (EX to EX-MT - perforation showing), 92-Patterson (EX-MT to NM), 86-Gaines RC (EX-MT to NM), 100-Jackson (EX-MT to NM), 102-Lancaster (EX-MT - off-center top-to-bottom), 103-Mosca (VG-EX to EX - poorly cut at the top right), 155-James (EX-MT to NM) and 165-Rigney RC (EX-MT to NM). With the rest of the cards making up the release found to be in the range of EX to EX-MT and EX-MT to NM throughout, the nine (9) team checklist cards are all unmarked except for the example of the Montreal Alouettes. Of note, the 1961 set also includes a group of ten (10) extras that features the likes of Bernie Faloney, Vince Scott, John Barrow, Jerry McDougall, Ron Howell, Pete Neumann, Steve Oneschuk, Paul Dekker, Tom Dublinski and Ralph Goldston, all of which have been signed over their reverses by the featured player in blue ballpoint pen ink.
