Named the CHL Rookie of the Year in 2006 and CHL Player of the Year in 2007, John Tavares entered the OHL after gaining "exceptional player" status at just 14, allowing Oshawa to select him as an underage player in 2005. Dealt to the London Knights at the 2009 OHL trade deadline, Tavares played just 24 regular season games for the club, breaking the OHL career-goal record after surpassing Peter Lee with his 214th marker on March 8th 2009. Wearing the captain's "C" in place of Scott Aarssen for a total of three (3) games (February 13th vs Erie, February 15th @ Kitchener and February 16th @ Guelph) while he was healing a broken foot, Tavares would score the 200th Ontario Hockey League goal via an overtime winner against Kitchener on the 15th, donning the Knights jersey that is proudly offered here.
Made by Reebok and sporting both Reebok/CHL and size "56" labels affixed to the inner collar, a Reebok logo crest has been added over the reverse neckline while a CHL league emblem has been embroidered into the reverse hem. Decorated over the front with an additional Reebok patch over the left breast along with the distinguished captain's "C", the Knights familiar team crest has been placed over the chest and features embroidered details throughout its entirety. Featuring matching alternate logo patches atop of both shoulders and an OHL league patch over the right breast, the sleeves and verso of the jersey have been styled with Tavares' number "61" in stacked tri-layer tackle twill numerals while "Tavares" has been spelt out in dual layer green-over-gold tackle twill letters across the affixed white twill nameplate at the top of the reverse. Retaining its original fight strap on the interior and displaying a Knights team tag sewn inside the front hem, the jersey shows just light game-use that is appropriate for two (2) games of use including stick marks over both sleeves, a board burn near the right cuff, light stick marks over the front and lower reverse and a light red board paint transfer mark over the lower reverse as well.
