Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/25/2024
The second Olympic Winter Games to feature women's hockey, the 2002 edition of Team Canada, looking to avenge their silver medal in 1998 with a gold on this occasion, would finish round robin play with a perfect record of 3-0 before beating Finland and the United States of America respectively in the playoff round to claim their first Olympic gold medal. Ushering an era of pure dominance at the games, offered here is this Team Canada jersey that has been signed by twenty-four (24) members of the 2002 women's team that won gold. A Nike made garment sporting brand and size "XL" tagging affixed to the inner collar while a Team Canada crest is present over the front that features embroidered details throughout. Also sporting matching heritage logo crests over both shoulders, the jersey remains in excellent condition with just a couple of pin holes from appearing to have been formerly in a framed display. Signed by twenty-four (24) members of Team Canada over the front of the piece with black marker ink signatures that display well despite their age, those that have signed include prominent names such as Hayley Wickenheiser, Vicky Sunohara, Jayna Hefford, Kim St-Pierre, Cherie Piper, Becky Kellar, Cheryl Pounder, Danielle Goyette and Cassie Campbell among others. A Classic Auctions LOA will accompany.
