A charter member of the National Hockey League that set up shop way beforehand in 1909, the Montreal Canadiens lay claim to the most Stanley Cup championships in NHL history with a total of twenty-four (24) and have had some of the best players in the history of the game to don their famed bleu, blanc et rouge. Enjoying a period of time from 1955 to 1960 in which they won five (5) straight Stanley Cup championships, offered here is this beautiful vintage Montreal Canadiens pro-style wool jersey that dates from the era of the late-1950s/early-1960s that could have possibly been worn in games for one of the many Canadiens affiliates such as the EPHL's Hull-Ottawa Canadiens or the Montreal Junior Canadiens of the QJHL/OHA. A bright red wool construction garment that is void of any tagging inside the hem or collar, the sweater measures out to roughly a size "42" after a quick check and features a classic tie-neck style collar with two (2) eyelets on either side. Decorated over the front with the famed "CH" Canadiens crest in layered felt, the number "23" appears over the sleeves and verso in white-over-blue layered felt numerals. Of note, the NHL Canadiens didn't start putting numbers on their sleeves until the 1958-59 season and started using layered tackle twill team crests in 1962-63. In good condition overall but not without flaws, holes are seen throughout the body and sleeves with the heaviest concentration of them found over the lower front while staining is present over the upper left, the left sleeve and behind the left shoulder, with a couple small ones over the right sleeve as well. Also showing sweat staining/soiling around the collar plus some popped threads around the edge of the numbers on the reverse, don't miss out on this relic of hockey's golden era that profile's one of the game's most important franchises.
