A member of the Russian and Soviet Hockey Hall of Fame, with his 28 Olympic games-played a record among Russian national team players, Darius Kasparaitis enjoyed an especially lengthy NHL career, with numerous seasons spent with the Pittsburgh Penguins and New York Islanders while also enjoying stints with the Colorado Avalanche and New York Rangers as well. A three-time Olympic medalist and a veteran of 863 National Hockey League game, offered here is this Team Russia jersey worn by Kasparaitis at the 1996 World Cup of Hockey. Made by Nike, brand/size "56" tagging is affixed to the inner collar while two different styles of Nike logos have been sublimated into the material of the jersey over the left shoulder and right collar bone. Decorated over the front with "Russia" in Cyrillic and the country's coat of arms in a hockey theme that has once again been sublimated into the material of the bright red garment, a 1996 World Cup of Hockey event patch has been sewn over the left shoulder. Of note, the Russians played four games during the series while wearing their red Nike uniforms. These included a 7-4 win over Slovakia on August 31st, a 2-5 defeat at the hands of USA on September 2nd, the 5-0 routing of Finland on September 6th and another 2-5 beating by Team USA on September 8th in the semis to knock them out of contention. Accented over the sleeves and verso with Kasparaitis' number "11" in dual layer white-over-blue tackle twill numerals, "Kasparaitis" is spelt out in single layer white twill letters across the affixed matching nameplate across the top of the reverse. Displaying with excellent game-use, stick marks are present over the front, reverse and both sleeves while board burns are observed over both sleeves as well. Sporting light fraying around the elbow reinforcements and a Nike Team Sports barcode heat pressed to the inside of the reverse hem, the jersey hails from Kasparaitis' personal collection and comes accompanied by his signed LOA.
