A product of the Boston College Eagles in the NCAA who would be drafted 18th overall by the Pittsburgh Penguins at the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, Brooks Orpik would play a total of 1035 games in his National Hockey League career, playing for both Pittsburgh and the Washington Capitals over that time, winning a Cup with Pittsburgh in 2009 and a Washington in 2018. A silver medalist with Team USA at the 2010 Winter Olympic Games, offered here is this Penguins jersey worn by Orpik during the 2011-12 season. Made by Reebok and featuring a lone size "56" label affixed to the inner collar, the front and reverse necklines have been accented by crests of the NHL and Reebok respectively. Decorated over the front of the jersey with Pittsburgh's familiar team crest that features embroidered details, the distinguished alternate captain's "A" has been added over the left breast. Styled over the sleeves and verso with Orpik's number "44" in dual layer black outlined in sport gold tackle twill numerals, "Orpik" has been spelt out in matching style letters across the affixed matching nameplate at the top of the reverse. Having had a Penguins team tag sewn on inside the reverse hem that denotes the jersey as being a "2011-2012 Game Jersey - Set 1" specimen, the garment shows good game-wear in the form of stick marks over the lower front, both sleeves and lower reverse while each sleeve also displays team repair(s) and a few board burns. Displaying good pilling on the interior and having had a JerseyTRAK sensor added underneath a piece of twill on top of the fight strap on the interior, the garment is signed inside the fight strap by Penguins equipment manager, Dana Heinze, and is accompanied by both a Penguins COA and a JerseyTRAK document that lists the games (20 in total) the jersey was scanned into by equipment staff.
Regarding a photo-match, the jersey is matched with Getty Image #137116056 (January 13th, 2012 vs Florida) to the team repair in the gold area of the right sleeve. Of note, the nameplate shows with a yellow hue in areas due to the adhesive used to attach it to the jersey before it was stitched down.
