Born in Medicine Hat, Alberta and heading south of the border to play college hockey with the Michigan Tech Huskies at Michigan Technological University, Al McLeod would play a total of 26 games in the National Hockey League with the Detroit Red Wings in 1973-74 while bouncing around their minor league affiliates in Fort Worth, Port Huron and Virginia as well from 1971 to 1974. Joining the WHA in 1974-75 and playing five (5) years in the league with Phoenix, Houston and Indianapolis to the tune of 342 games, offered here is this WHA Phoenix Roadrunners jersey worn by McLeod during the team's first season of 1974-75. Made by Champion, the all-mesh construction garment sports a brand tag that displays a size "46" designation affixed to the inner collar. Decorated over the front with a Roadrunners team crest that has been sewn on and displays with beautifully embroidered details throughout, matching rubberized roadrunner logos have been heat-pressed over both shoulders as well. Accented over the sleeves and verso with Mike's number "3" in dual layer heat-pressed numerals that have held up well despite their age, some cracking is observed to the number on the left sleeve and to the white rubberized stripe along the hem of both sides. Showing the outline of where the nameplate was once affixed on the upper reverse, the jersey exhibits good game-wear via a total of nine (9) team repairs, seven (7) on the left sleeve and two (2) more on the right one. Additionally, more wear is present in the form of stick marks over the lower front and lower reverse while a board burn is found on the right arm. Finally, both sleeves have been shortened to Stevens' liking, just by being folded in and hemmed while a garter style fight strap and pilling are seen on the interior. A true classic from the days of the "rival league", don't miss out on this beauty! **ADDENDUM** Further research shows that the jersey was not worn by Mike Stevens as previously stated and that it was in fact worn by Al McLeod.
