Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/20/2024
Featuring a checklist that is comprised of 198 total cards and produced in small quantities than its Canadian made O-Pee-Chee counterpart, Topps' 1989-90 hockey release is highlighted by the first-year offerings of players such as Joe Sakic, Brian Leetch and Trevor Linden along with stars such as Wayne Gretzky, Mario Lemieux, Patrick Roy and Brett Hull. Offered here, we present this lot that features a total of thirty-eight (38) wax boxes of the 1989-90 Topps hockey release, almost two (2) full cases of boxes are here for you to consider though we cannot guarantee that the boxes inside them are original to those cases. With each box containing a total of thirty-six (36) packs on the interior and each housing a total of thirteen (13) cards and one sticker; either an All-Star playeror team logo, all boxes seem to have not been tampered with and look to have their complete contents but it is impossible to verify them all. For that reason, the items in the lot are being sold "AS IS" and are not eligible for return. Still all contained within Topps cases that display hockey graphics on the sides and themselves remain in good condition with the expected handling and storage wear present, hand written notations are found on one side of each case and one of the two has the remains of a shipping invoice/label attached as well. For the boxes, three (3) show staple holes in their lids while one (1) presents with large strips of packing tape holding it together. Additionally, around twelve (12) of the boxes in the group have good sized moderate to heavy creases in the top lid while around ten (10) have warping from being at the bottom of the case and roughly three (3) have small tears at edges or corners that are worth mentioning for accuracy. As well, for the breakdown of the box bottom cards, two (2) are the Gretzky/Hull/Kerr/Naslund variation, eight (8) are the Lemieux/Sandstrom/Ridley/Skriko variation, eleven (11) are the Yzerman/Larmer/Neely/Kurri variation and lastly, seventeen (17) are the Turgeon/Gagner/Mullen/Dineen variation. Overall an excellent group of boxes sure to appeal to both dealers looking for inventory and collectors looking to beef up their wax collection, don't miss out on this one that is chalked full of endless opportunities.
