A five-time Stanley Cup winner throughout his lengthy career which included winning four championships in just six seasons with the Edmonton Oilers, Esa Tikkanen would play a total of 877 games over the course of his National Hockey League career and also suit up for his native Finland on numerous occasions as well, winning a bronze medal at the 1998 Winter Olympic Games. Offered here, we present this stick used by Tikkanen as a member of the Edmonton Oilers in the mid-to-late-1980 during their Stanley Cup dynasty years. A Koho made specimen with "Tikkanen" stamped to the upper shaft, the stick retain's Esa's original tape job of blue cloth-over-white on the shaved handle/knob that has been finished at the bottom with more white while black has been added over the blade from the toe to the middle of the heel. Remaining structurally sound despite a couple of small cracks in the shaft and another in the underside of the blade that has resulted in a bit of missing wood, the twig exhibits heavy game-use throughout with numerous dark marks, paint transfers and other abrasions observed throughout the shaft, lower shaft, heel and blade while the blade tape itself also shows wear and makes over both sides as well.
