One of many new releases to emerge in the early-1930s, the Hamilton Chewing Gum company’s 1933-34 V288 hockey card set rings in with a checklist that includes a total of 21 cards and features some of the era’s key players. Offered here in starter set form, is this group of Hamilton Gum's V288 release that features eleven (11) of the twenty-one (21) cards making up the checklist. Made up of mostly orange and yellow background offerings that total four (4) each, with the colour breakdown of the rest of the group including two (2) blue's and one (1) green, the small assembly is led condition wise by a copy of card #18 of Sylvio Mantha that is seen as being in the scope of VG to VG-EX (corner wear and light discolouration on the reverse), and also includes key rookies cards of HOFers such as Joe Primeau (G to VG), Red Horner (FR to G - crease and corner wear/damage), Ebbie Goodfellow (G to VG - corner wear/damage and "dirty") and Charlie Conacher (FR to G - creases and corner wear/damage). WIth the remaining cards including a trio of G to VG condition neighbourhood cards including the likes of 1-Wasnie (corner wear and a small surface scratch), 14-Larochelle (corner wear, surface scratch and a gum stain) and 33-Day (light crease at top left) while being concluded by three (3) cards viewed as being in the proximity of FR to G including 7-Thoms (pinhole top middle plus corner wear/damage), 17-Clancy (crease and corner wear/damage) and 39-Cotton (pinhole). Overall a neat grouping of cards from the early days of the National Hockey League that includes numerous household names of the era.
