Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/28/2023
Featuring a checklist that consisted of 264 total cards and a separate production from the Topps set found south of the border, the 1977 O-Pee-Chee baseball set is found heavily loaded with a number of players from the native Expos & Blue Jays, making their 1977 OPC team sets superior to the ones issued by their American cousin. Printed later than the Topps cards, giving OPC the opportunity to update the teams and airbrush the hats of the free agents and traded players offered here is this complete assembly of O-Pee-Chee's 1977 baseball release. Lacking any real key rookie cards but chalked full of star power and numerous future Baseball Hall of Fame inductees, the contingent is found to be in an overall high-grade condition range of EX-MT to NM for its effort with both of the set's checklists, cards #124 and #179, found remaining in their original unmarked state. Led by EX-MT to NM examples of 37-Yastrzemski (60-40 centering), 45-Carter, 65-Ryan, 100-Bench (60-40 centering), 143-Carew, 156-Winfield (80-20 centering), 170-Brett, 200-Jackson, 204-Yount, 205-Seaver (off-center top-to-bottom), 245-Schmidt (60-40 centering) and 264-Ryan Record Breaker, card #240 of Pete Rose is found closer to the neighbourhood of VG-EX to EX due to wear/damage at the bottom right corner. Showcasing the first cardboard appearance of the newly minted Toronto Blue Jays and with the rest of the stars in the checklist in a condition consistent with the rest of the set, don't miss out on this premium baseball offering for your all-important collection!
