Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/28/2023
Serving as the home of the Chicago Black Hawks beginning with the club’s fourth season in 1929-30, Chicago Stadium, also known as "The Madhouse on Madison", featured big league hockey for over 60 years as well as the Chicago Bulls of the NBA and numerous concerts plus other acts, with the hallowed arena demolished early in 1995. Opening its doors just before the onset of The Great Depression in 1929 and having its Barton pipe organ the envy of countless other venues, offered here is this single red seat hailing from the fabled Chi-Town arena. Measuring roughly 31 ½” in height, the somewhat free-standing solid red seat features cast construction with wooden slats, with the original metal tag with seat number now lost to time. Displaying with moderate to heavier surface wear including paint loss to a few of the wooden slats, the first slat in the seat bottom is able to shift a bit and sports a crack/split of the wood at the left side edge while the metal components also show surface wear and minor paint loss, especially over the lower sections. A true relic from one of the best and loudest arenas of its era, don't miss out on this gem!
