Widely regarded as one of the greatest goalies of all-time, Ken Dryden enjoyed a remarkable National Hockey League career that included six (6) Stanley Cup championships in only eight (8) seasons as well as numerous individual awards and accolades such five (5) Vezina Trophy's and the 1971-72 Calder Trophy as the league's best rookie. Offered here, we present this collection of four (4) O-Pee-Chee and Topps graded hockey cards of the 1972 Team Canada goaltender that date between 1971-72 and 1978-79. Lead by a copy of his key 1971-72 Topps rookie card, which has earned a mark of 8 Excellent or Better from BCCG, the card displays completely off-center from left-to-right over the front with edge and light corner wear also being observed along with some light foxing along the bottom though does retain nice colours over both the front and back. Next, is a copy of Ken's 2nd year card released by O-Pee-Chee during the 1972-73 season in which he helped Les Canadiens to the 18th Stanley Cup in franchise history, graded MINT 9 by BVG, the card displays beautifully with no obvious flaws to make note of. Rounding out the group are a pair of Ken's cards from the 1978-79 O-Pee-Chee set, both his regular series and all-star releases, hailing from his final NHL season in which the Canadiens won their fourth straight Coupe Stanley. Both having been graded by BVG, both sport GEM MINT 9.5 designations with the regular series card displaying subgrades of Centering 9.5, Corners 9.5, Edges 9.5 and Surface 9 over its label. A fabulous quartet that is quality over quantity, all the holders remain in excellent condition with just light scratches and scuffs to mention for accuracy.
It must be noted that the grading standards followed by BCCG may not correspond to those currently employed by PSA, BGS or SGC. The outcome of an attempted cross-over of this piece through any of those services, then, would be uncertain and cannot be guaranteed.
