Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2023

Concluding his HOF career as the highest scoring European-born-and-trained player in NHL history, Jari Kurri was a member of five Stanley Cup championship squads with the Edmonton Oilers and represented his native Finland at every international level. From his time in Alberta in the 1980s, we offer this stick used by "The Finnish Flash". A KOHO Silverfibre model twig with "Kurri" stamped to the lower shaft, the stick retains its black cloth wrapping over both the knob and the blade. Sporting a large blue coloured smudge over the handle that could possibly have been his number "17" that would have been handwritten as we have seen on other styles, the vintage lumber is found existing without its original striping accents while showing game-use in the form of black coloured marks and other abrasions throughout the shaft and heel while marks decorate both sides of the blade tape and a red paint transfer is observed over the lower shaft on the forehand side near the heel and upper shaft as well. Additionally, some liquid residue/staining is seen to the upper portion of the shaft as well.
