A veteran of 895 games played over the course of his National Hockey League career, Steve Konroyd was known as a sound positional defenceman who could also make crisp outlet passes to his forwards. Acquired by the Detroit Red Wings late in the 1992-93 season from Hartford, offered here is this Red Wings jersey worn by Konroyd during the 1993 Stanley Cup playoffs. Made by CCM, size “52”, Maska “Air-Knit” and EastSide labels have been affixed to the inner collar while both the CCM and NHL shield logos have been embroidered into the reverse hem. Decorated over the front with Detroit’s famed winged wheel team crest that features embroidered details throughout, the white areas of the red have turned pink due to colour bleed from washing. Showcasing the Stanley Cup centennial patch over the right breast, the sleeves and verso have had Konroyd’s number “8” sewn to them in single layer red or white twill numerals while “Konroyd” is spelt out in single layer red twill letters that have been sewn directly to the upper back in a gentle arch above the numbers. Worn for just a single game (April 27th, 1993 vs Toronto – Norris Division Semi-Finals Game 5), the jersey shows light wear via stick marks over the front, right sleeve and reverse right hip as well as an additional stick mark/board burn near the front hem as well. Displaying a “93 Playoffs” team stamp inside the reverse hem, a HockeyTown Authentics hologram sticker numbered “17544” has been placed alongside the stamp and is accompanied by a matching HockeyTown COA.
