Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2023

The record holder for the second-most lifetime strikeouts of any left-handed pitcher, Steve Carlton was the first player to win four Cy Young Awards in a career. Inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1994 after a career that spanned 24-years and saw him win two (2) World Series championships as well as the Triple Crown for pitchers in 1972, offered here, we present this copy of Carlton's 1965 Topps rookie card that has been inspected and encapsulated by the graders at PSA who have deemed it worthy of a VG-EX 4 designation. Pictured alongside fellow pitcher Fritz Ackley, the card presents with excellent centering over the front and relatively sharp corners though two of the four are impacted by small creases and over all show light wear/dings that is worth mentioning for accuracy. With the reverse showing light toning and foxing, the PSA holder that the card is housed in presents with a handful of scratches over both sides. One of the best to ever toe the rubber in the history of the Major Leagues, don't let your collection go without this one!
