Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/19/2023
Two of the greatest players that the game of hockey has ever seen with both having been inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame for their play and contributions to the game, the likes of Terry Sawchuk and Gordie Howe were instrumental key cogs in the wheel that was the Detroit Red Wings of the early-1950s, winners of Stanley Cup championships in 1952, 1954 and 1955. Offered here, is this pair of cards featuring the HOFers including a copy of Sawchuk's 1953-54 Parkhurst offering and a 1956 Adventure issue of Howe. Starting with the Sawchuk, the third year Parkhurst card of the four (4) time Vezina Trophy winner is in the vicinity of VG but displays better despite three (3) fine creases on the left and right edges, mostly noticeable on the back of the card, corners that show wear and are rounded a bit and a hit mark on the bottom edge. For the 1956 Adventure issue of Howe, depicting him streaking in on net against the New York Rangers, the card has been inspected and slabbed by PSA who have deemed it worthy of an EX 5 mid-grade designation. Housed in an older style PSA holder, scratches and scuffs are observed over both sides, worth mentioning for accuracy.
