Topps hockey card action from the final season of the Original Six era and first year of the expansion era are up for grabs here with this pair of starter sets from 1966-67 and 1967-68. Starting with the earlier of the two releases, the 1966-67 set, consisting of 57 of the 128 paced by KSA graded examples of #2 Gump Worsley (ENM 6), #62 Stan Mikita (ENM+ 6.5), #77 Frank Mahovlich (NM+ 7.5) and #131 Frank Mahovlich AS (ENM 6). For the rest of the set, missing key cards like the Orr RC, Howe, Hull, P. Esposito, Bucyk, Howe AS, Hull AS, Blake, Sawchuk, Giacomin, Horton and Beliveau, the group of keys is led by an EX-MT to NM example of card #72, the 2nd year card of Yvan Cournoyer, which is followed closely behind by the likes of 66-Checklist (EX-MT+ - unmarked), 78-Keon (EX-MT+), 102-Delvecchio (EX-MT+ - tiny bottom left corner ding), 8-Richard (EX to EX-MT), 118-Canadiens (EX to EX-MT - slightly off-center), 119-Red Wings (EX to EX-MT+) and 120-Checklist (EX to EX-MT - marked), the notable cards are rounded out by an EX to EX+ copy of card #12 picturing Johnny Bower that has a small ding to the bottom left corner.
For the 1967-68 group, featuring a total of 46 cards that are featured in the 132 card checklist, missing are the cards of Orr, Orr Calder Trophy, Orr AS, Worsley, Howe, Sanderson RC, Hull, Howe AS, P. Esposito, Gilbert and the Vachon RC. For the key cards that are present and accounted for, EX-MT to NM specimens include those of 16-Horton, 74-Beliveau, 76-Bower, 99-Cheevers, and 120-Checklist (unmarked) while card #114 of Stan Mikita rings in around the scope of EX to EX-MT+ with a tiny bottom left corner ding worth making mention of for accuracy. For the last two cards, the key rookie of Jacques Lemaire is present and found to be in the condition neighbourhood of VG to VG-EX with a stain on the front and checklist #66 is around the range of VG-EX+ while remaining unmarked but displaying a border stain. A classic group of vintage hockey offerings largely in an appealing higher grade range that is awaiting its new home in your collection!
