Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/19/2023
A member of the Triple Gold Club and the only Swede in history to win the Stanley Cup, World Championships and gold at the Winter Olympics each twice, Peter Forsberg spent parts of 13 seasons in the NHL, with the bulk of his career representing Colorado. This photo-matched and signed Aves jersey was worn by the superstar in 1996-97. Starter and Center Ice labels are affixed to the collar, with embroidered NHL and Starter crests on the back bottom hem. Styled with the familiar Aves team crest in twill partially embroidered, “21” appears over the sleeves and verso, with matching “Bigfoot” crests adorning each shoulder. There is also a "56R-1LS7" swatch sewn to the inside hem. The jersey exhibits heavy game-use, with numerous puck and stick marks covering the front and sleeves along with board burns and transfer marks, with team repairs on the left (2) and right (1) sleeves. Forsberg has signed the reverse "2" in silver, adding "HOF 14". Getty Images #302844 (March 18, 1997) and #302783 (March 12, 1997) have been matched to a number of marks over the front and team crest, while Getty Image #302841 (March 18, 1997) has been matched to marks on the "21" on the left sleeve. A team COA will accompany, along with an additional COA for the signature.
