Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/20/2023
Losing only 13 games, with Phil Esposito leading the club in scoring, the Boston Bruins finished first overall in the NHL in 1971-72. Led by a strong roster including Bobby Orr, the Beantowners defeated the New York Rangers in the Stanley Cup finals in six games. This would be the black and gold's second championship in just three seasons. This framed photo of the 1971-72 Stanley Cup champion Bruins has been team-signed on the matting. At 10" x 13", picturing the club in the traditional on ice photo, a plaque has been affixed to the front of the glass, with 18 signing in matching black marker including HOFers Orr, Cheevers, Espo, Schmidt, Bucyk and Tom Johnson, along with Cashman, Johnston, Smith, McKenzie, Marcotte, Stanfield, Awrey and a few others. The signatures have slightly faded to a greyish colour, and display nicely, with no issues for the photo. Framed to approx 15 1/2" x 19 1/2", a JSA LOA will accompany.
